A career nanny has become a mid-20th century breakout artist of American Street Photography. An anonymous and mysterious woman, who died at age 83 without knowing that her passion for photography would become highly regarded worldwide.
With a personal sharp touch, her wide work shows a great deal of natural originality. She was a careful observer able to catch, with her Rolleiflex camera and an amazing parity, the tragic and the wonderful, the exceptional and the everyday life. Her peculiar story is told by John Maloof in collaboration with Charlie Siskel in a documentary film nominated for Oscars 2015: “Finding Vivian Maier”.
